Accommodation in Northern Namibia
Etosha National Park
If you want to see Etosha’s wildlife you can accommodate yourself either inside or outside of the park. The rest camps in the the camp are a bit more costly, but you are right where you want to be.
If you stay outside the park you will have to put up with a drive in and out the park, but if you are on a budget or if you just want to get more value for your money this is still a good option.
Inside the park
The Okaukuejo Camp is located closed to the southern entrance to the park. The camp is famous for its flood lit water hole, which also offers some of the best rhino viewing. Another favourite is the stone tower offering the opportunity for some spectacular sunset photography.
Halali Camp and the waterhole of the same name are located in the middle of the park. The water hole is one of the park’s best spots for game viewing throughout the day and into the night.
Build around an old German fort Namutoni is the the busiest and most popular rest camp. It is located close to the eastern gate and overlooks King Nehale waterhole.
All accommodation in the camps need to be booked in advance with NWR.
Outside the gates
There is no shortage of accommodation around Etosha National Park. If you want to budget take an hour’s drive to either Outjo or Tsumeb, where you’ll find friendly backpackers. If you are willing to spend a little more there are several options on both sides of the park.
If you want to see the whole park it’s a good idea to book accommodation on both sides of the park and drive from one to the other through the park.
