Shopping in Windhoek
If you are travelling Namibia, you are likely to start in Windhoek and this is also the best opportunity to stock up on anything money can buy. Windhoek lacks the huge shopping malls but you’ll find everything you need with the retailers. Also look out for German delicacies, brötchen and bloody good bread to have with you meat.
Independence Ave
Independence Avenue is Windhoek’s main largest street and most of the business happens around here. Here you’ll find quite a variety of shops and restaurants along with ATMs, bureaux de change,the tourism office and other practicalities.
Post Street Mall
This is the main shopping area with a crafts market. Buy jewellery, clothing or souvenirs. Of course you can also just take it easy in one the of little cafes. In the centre you’ll find the Gibeon Meteorite Display of 33 extraterrestrial boulders.
Namibia Crafts Centre
This vibrant market in the Old Breweries Complex offers arts and crafts from all over the country. Whether you’re looking for baskets, jewellery,leather and clay products or candles, you’re sure to find it here, where local artists and craftsmen showcase their newest ideas. If you get tired refuel at the Crafts Cafe on the first floor.
